At the Markets - January 23 and 24, 2010

Making it out to the markets this weekend?  Here's what EcoFriendly will have in store for you.  If you're looking for fresh beef - not too much this week except for ground beef; some NY strips, sirloins and many other regular cuts you see.  But what you really need to be looking for on the fresh side is our veal and goat!

Veal this week -- We've got rib chops, porterhouse, NY strips, lots of scallopine and more.  And for goat, plenty of shoulder, loin and rib chops.  And while EcoFriendly is known for a lot of great meats, I think everyone knows how special our pork is.  Look for 4 Wattabaw racks as pork chops this weekend.

Now that's a look at what we have fresh.  Frozen this week is plenty of chicken.  Whole birds along with our usual selection of leg quarters, boneless/skinless breasts and French-cut breasts.  We'll also have plenty of chicken livers, hearts and kidneys.

Finally, what makes everything tastes great?  Yup!  Bacon!

At the Markets - January 16 and 17, 2010

Well friends, we don't have any eggs this week. But there's no point in crying over missing eggs when we have plenty of fresh beef, including great steaks such as ribeyes, tenderloins, and New York strips.  There's also plenty of fresh ground beef.  And ground pork, as well as fresh pork tenderloins.

On the frozen side, lots of chicken.  Whole birds as well as our usual cuts, including leg quarters and breasts.  We also have chicken livers.  And frozen beef offal as well, including tongues, livers, hearts and kidneys.

But also look for our frozen beef oxtails.  I assure you it will be getting mighty cold again this winter and what could warm you up inside more than some Ecofriendly oxtail stew?  (Maybe a hearty glass of red wine?) See you this weekend!

At the Markets - January 9 and 10, 2010

Well, happy new year everyone!  Here's some insight into what's being delivered to our farmers market stands this weekend.  Saturday at Arlington Courthouse and Sunday at Dupont Circle.

What's FRESH this week?

RABBITS!! - 15-20 of them! 

Beef - lots of steaks, roasts and plenty of fresh ground beef.  We'll also have some fresh briskets and tenderloins for filet mignon.  But in this cold weather...the idea of turning on the oven for a good slow roast would be quite comforting!

As for fresh pork - we have a whole assortment of pork chops and our very popular pork tenderloins.  Come early to get the pork tenderloins as we only have about 20 this weekend.

When it comes to frozen this week, we'll have plenty of sausage, as usual.  As well as whole chickens and parts, including chicken breasts.  And while we may have fresh ground beef, we also have frozen. 

Of course the way the weekend is looking, come early before all of our fresh meat freezes simply from being outside at the market!!!  We're looking forward to seeing you.

Ah, the Snow!

Hey folks, just a quick note that even though the snow is coming down now and is supposed to really pick up in the morning, we still plan to do our best to be at the Arlington market. Looks like it's going to be a nice weekend to get that stock pot simmering or that slow cooker bubbling!

At the Markets - December 19 and 20, 2009 - Our Last Markets for the Year

Well, we know it's supposed to be a snowy weekend, but we hope that won't keep you away from the farmers markets.  After all, taking a nice roasted chicken and vegetables out of the warm oven on a snowy day is pretty much tops.

EcoFriendly Foods will be at both Arlington Courthouse and Dupont Circle this weekend for your shopping needs in these last markets before Christmas.  Don't forget to pick up an EcoFriendly Gift Box to give as a special treat to friends and family this year and introduce them to the flavor, quality, and many other reasons why you choose our products.

We will have small whole chickens and our usual selection of cuts, such as boneless, skinless breasts; skin-on French-cut breasts, leg quarters; wings; and we hope to have parts for your stock pot. 

The quality and flavor of EcoFriendly pork is known far and wide and we'll be sure to have some for you, as well as some wonderful cuts of beef, including standing rib roasts.  Naturally, we'll also have a great selection of sausages.  We also expect to have about 20 frozen turkeys.  These are smaller size heritage birds, perhaps in the 6 pound range, but are packed with flavor.  And while they won't be big enough to fill the plates of your extended family for Christmas dinner, they definitely will delight a few people.

This will be the last weekend EcoFriendly will be at the farmers markets in 2009.  We'll be taking the weekend after Christmas off so our staff can spend time with their families.  We'll be back next on January 2nd and 3rd.  So, come see us this weekend so we can wish you happy holidays, a safe and prosperous new year, and to thank you for your continued support of what we at EcoFriendly are doing and for sharing in our way of thinking about our environment, our health, the way we eat, they way we treat the animals that sustain us, and for helping to make 2009 our best year ever.
